Trying to simulate MultiViews with mod_rewrite

Following up to previous post: use thing that was designed for purpose, rather than thing that was for something completely different but just happened to do what I wanted.

Thanks to df (one of said admins) for the suggestion; not sure why I didn't consider it myself, before. Oh well.
